We were delighted to read in Solar Power Portal that many businesses and public buildings in the UK will soon be able to install solar panels, thanks to over half a billion pounds of government funding. The latest phase of the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme, will provide £530 million of government investment for energy efficiency upgrades, including heat pumps, solar panels, insulation, and low-energy lighting, in public buildings across the country. The initiative has funded over 1,000 projects since 2020.

Birmingham Food & Drink Expo a roaring success

Jack Payne and Sophie Browning attended the Food & Drink Expo on the 30th April, at the NEC, Birmingham. They had an amazing time speaking to interested exhibitors about the benefits that Rooftop Solar can provide for businesses.

We are delighted to confirm Renewable Connections have been shortlisted for The Energy Awards ‘Energy Champion of the Year’ Award!

The Award’s represent the very best in excellence, innovation and ambition across the energy sector and we are thrilled to have been selected for the Energy Champion Group Achievement category – well done team! We look forward to joining industry colleagues at the ceremony this July.

And in other news…

North East Lincolnshire Council has given consent for a solar farm and battery storage project that will provide clean, green energy to the equivalent of up to 17,694 new homes. The 43.7MW solar farm and 10MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) facility will be located to the north-west of Waltham, North East Lincolnshire.  The renewable energy project comes with a package of landscape, ecological and biodiversity benefits and has a community benefit fund of over £87,000.

Renewable Connections, PowerGreen’s parent company, submitted the application to the Council in November 2023, having undertaken extensive consultation with the community earlier that year.  Bradley Road Solar Farm was unanimously approved following a recommendation for approval by North East Lincolnshire Council’s planning officers.

The approval marks Renewable Connections, 20th project consent since 2021.  The company has achieved consent for low carbon energy projects spanning solar, battery and hydrogen technologies.

Renewable Connections bolsters Scottish land team with key appointment

The PowerGreen team specialise in both rooftop and ground mount solar schemes, so are delighted to confirm the appointment of a new Land Acquisition manager to parent company Renewable Connections, Scottish division.

David Reid will lead on all landowner engagement in Scotland, operating as the key point of contact for landowner or farmer interested in hosting renewable energy projects on their land.

David who is from an east coast farming family, studied Agriculture at The Royal Agricultural University followed by Real Estate Management & Development at Heriot Watt University before becoming a fully qualified surveyor.  Throughout his 19-year career he has undertaken development and land management roles with established house builders and property consultancies across Scotland.
