Scotland Change’s Planning Restrictions for Solar Energy
On the 28th March it was announced that the Scottish Government will be removing the highly restrictive 50 KW rooftop solar threshold. As of May 24th 2024, non-domestic rooftop solar systems, of any size, will be permitted development, meaning sites wont be subject to a full planning application.
The removal of this upper limit results in the elimination of the lengthy and costly process that had to be completed in order to install solar on roofs. Simplifying this process means rooftop solar is becoming an increasingly viable option for businesses to reach net zero targets
